In the 1970s, there were about 175,000 residents in Centro Storico, the main island and historic center of Venice. In fact, there are now more tourist beds in Venice than there are residents. Last week, Venice took action on overtourism, introducing a 5€ fee to day trippers who want to access the city. "You can't impose an entrance fee to a city; all they're doing is transforming it into a theme park. Before the Bell spoke to Joe Mazola, director of Schwab Trader Education, about the growing importance of retail investors in markets, where Main Street is investing and why people are still enamored with Elon Musk. Why is it so important to single out retail investors and track where they’re putting their money? Is there a big difference between what retail investors and institutional investors are doing right now? That means the Fed is due to cut rates in 2024, which officials themselves projected in December. We just want some more confidence before we take that very important step of beginning to cut interest rates,” he told “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley.

The first set of dates on which the fee will be charged cover April to mid July, 2024. The incidents involve violence emanating from across the political spectrum, including dozens of cases of substantial property damage by leftists at political demonstrations. Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump, didn’t respond to questions from Reuters about the former president’s remarks and the impact of his rhetoric. But those who study extremism say psychiatric problems alone rarely induce political violence. “How could I take care of a brother in arms if I couldn’t even take care of myself?” Aldrich told the court. They travelled with European Sleeper, a Dutch-Belgian startup whose launch in May is part of a renaissance of night train travel. CHALLENGESYears of decline in Europe's night train network coincided with the rise of low-cost airlines. Supporters of night trains are pushing for more state help to compete against budget airlines, such as a value-added tax exemption on cross-border routes and lower track access charges. At night, trains compete with freight traffic and construction works, and during the busy morning hours they vie for arrival slots at stations with commuter services. Sarah and Sonia's train, European Sleeper's ES453 service, pulled in at 7.57 a.m., one hour and nine minutes late.

CNN —Venice has finally revealed the details for its entrance fee, making it the first city in the world to charge daytripper visitors. But this isn’t a permanent move yet – the Venice authorities have committed to a 30-day “experiment,” according to mayor Luigi Brugnaro, who shared the news on Twitter/X. Daytrippers over the age of 14 entering the “old city” of Venice – the entirety of the lagoon city – will have to pay. Andrea Merola/Bloomberg/Getty ImagesPreviously, Venturini had announced that the entrance fee – which has been discussed since 2019 – would start in January 2023. Venice may be the first city to introduce a fee, but already one village in Italy has introduced a charge for daytrippers.

But UBS analysts are expecting that global equity valuations will sell off later this year. Stocks may be riding the ongoing bull rally back to all-time highs, but that doesn't mean Wall Street's fears of an economic downturn have completely dissipated. In fact, even prominent investors such as Evercore founder Roger Altman have called for a recession by the end of 2023. And according to analysts at UBS investment bank, a potential market sell-off wouldn't be solely concentrated in the technology sector. In the note, Baweja and his team also shared nine "essential" charts showing why they expect equities to sell off this year.

He shares three key factors investors should look for when buying stocks in 2023. But in fact, investors may actually be too optimistic right now, according to Joe Mazzola, Charles Schwab's director of trading and education. At this point, Mazzola believes it's pretty clear the Federal Reserve is planning to pause its rate-hiking cycle in June. One key metric Mazzola tracks is the earnings yield spread, or earnings divided by asset price — the inverse of the more widely followed price-to-earnings ratio. Fundamentally, the earnings yield shows an investor how much they're paying for potential earnings, Mazzola explained.
